Why PADI Pool Rescue Specialist?
Where Scuba Diver training or Club activities take place in a pool environment it
may be required that a Pool or Club Lifeguard supervise, support or perform a
rescue. The PADI Pool Rescue Specialist course is designed to provide qualified
Pool Lifeguards and Club qualified rescue competent divers with the necessary
additional skills to manage or assist a scuba diving rescue in a swimming pool
environment.
What do I need to start?
You need to have a current NPLQ or NaRS Pool Lifeguard
qualification or PADI Rescue Dive, BS-AC Sports Diver or
equivalent with a current first aid (CPR) qualification.
Minimum Age: 16 years old.
This is a non-diving Distinctive Speciality qualification but can be
used toward your Master Scuba Diver rating.
General
As part of the PADI Pool Rescue Specialist course you will learn
diver retrieval techniques from the surface without buoyancy
aids, site safety orientations, accident reporting procedures,
equipment handling and oxygen provision set up. There is also
an assessment based renewal qualification.
This is a unique qualification which sets the standard for all club
supplied Pool Lifeguards.
