HARD HAT (old Fashioned diving) AND RE-COMPRESSION CHAMBER DIVE30th April 2006

Join us on our next trip to the Diver Training Centre at York. Formally a commercial diving centre but now given over to recreation diver training with a couple of very special diving experiences.
1. The first is the hard hat dive itself. In full standard dress with communications you get to experience what it was like to dive in the pioneering days of commercial diving. They have a superb 6 metre tank where complete with full “standard dress” you can experience surface fed diving, brass helmet and lead boots. Brilliant picture opportunities abound. No specialist training is required so this is open to all qualified divers (experienced or not).
2. The other section is the re-compression chamber dive. It takes six at a time and you get taken down to 50 metres. This alone is worth the trip. Narked out of your scull, even our Neil’s jokes are funny. One time we watched a fly trying to take off in air six times thicker than normal - a narked fly at half speed!!! Watch a piece of neoprene almost halve in thickness before your very eyes, see a tennis ball become the size of a ping-pong ball, wave your hands and watch the air move.
Add to this lunch, and you can understand why this is one of our most popular trips.
