Plymouth May bank Holiday see PDF
We have made a provisional booking for the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend for three days boat diving in Plymouth, with accommodation included. We have until Wednesday to confirm the booking, but if we have filled most of the places by then, we can have a few more days grace.
Accomodation is for the nights of Friday 4th -Sunday 6th May, with boat diving on the MV Excalibur on Saturday 5th- Monday 7th May.
The total cost for 3 days boat diving, and 3 nights B&B accommodation is £147, with FREE air refills. We need £65 deposit each by Wednesday 21 March, with the remaining £82 by Thursday 5th April.
The accommodation is a self-contained unit with 4 bedrooms, each sleeping 2, 3 or 4 people in single beds or bunks. Separate shower room, toilets, and galley, with a rinse tank and a drying room. Full 3 course english breakfast is provided. The accommodation is less than 10 minutes from the city centre, and is close to two food pubs, a chinese takeaway, a pizza place and a fish & chip shop.
The diving vessel Excalibur was built for diving. It's engine is below deck level to give maximum uncluttered deck space, has a well designed divers ladder, and carries all the latest equipment, including radar, VHF radio, autopilot, echo sounders, professional differential GPS, and a proton magnetometer. There is unlimited tea and coffee on board, and the all important toilet. Enough space for 10 divers with 2 cylinders each and normal kit. The boat skipper is a qualified diver, and has been running a diving boat out of Plymouth since 1976.
Plymouth offers some of the best diving in the country, with plenty of reefs and wrecks. Some of the more famous sites include Eddystone Lighthouse, Hand Deeps, HMS Scylla and the James Egan Layne. Visibility is usually excellent, up to 30m. The tidal run is small, even on a spring tide, and is only 0.8 knots on full flood.
In the event of boat cancellation due to bad weather, a full refund of the day's boat costs will be given (£35 each).
