Divemaster Scuba offers the Emergency First Response First Aid Instructor program. Teaching the EFR course meets the HSE guidelines for appointed persons First Aid requirements

What can I do?

As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you can conduct Emergency First Response Primary (CPR), Secondary Care (first aid) and Care for Children courses.

We also include Automated External Defibrillator (AED), emergency oxygen and conscious choking management skills.

You will be able to teach it all and issue internationally recognised certifications which also meet the requirements of the UK Health and Safety Executive Appointed Persons First Aid recommendations.

What will I do?

You'll learn how to conduct the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Emergency First Response Secondary Care (first aid) courses and care for Children. You'll also learn to conduct the recommended Automated External Defibrillator (AED), emergency oxygen and conscious choking management skills.

How long will it take?

The Emergency First Response Instructor Course takes approximately eight hours plus breaks. This is usually done in three or four sessions over the course of 2 days. Refreshments are available at the Training Centre.

The course starts at 11am Saturday morning 24th March. The first session will be a review of the EFR and Care for Children program followed by teaching methods and systems.

The course will be conducted by our Course Director Steve Prior and we have arranged an evening pool session in Chesterfield for anyone interested in taking their PADI Open Water Instructor Course later this year.

Prerequisite for EFR Instructor Programs:

To enter the Emergency First Response Instructor course, you must be 18 years old and have completed adult, child and infant CPR and first aid training in the past 24 months or a be a practicing medical professional such as a physician, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic and Registered Nurse.

A Professional First Aid Instructor

The Emergency First Response programme meets the HSE guidelines for appointed persons First Aid requirements, requirements for CPR and First Aid in the workplace (OSHA Guideline 29 CFR 1910.151), and incorporates the latest procedures for emergency patient care. Other organisations that recognise EFR as meeting their requirements are United States Coast Guard, The Boy Scouts of America, and the American Council on Exercise (ACE), to name a few.
